SBC - AUGUST, 2025
Greetings,
"That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man;" Ephesians 3:16
August 7, A call for a Day of prayer & fasting among SBC.
Our focus of prayer and fasting is revival for the church; and a spiritual awakening among the lost masses;
This is our 5 month in calling for you to join us. As pastors ask your church to consider joining. As associational ministers contact your churches and pastors to join. And as SBC state leaders and entity heads, pass along the information to join in this needed time before the Lord.
What would it look like for over 40 SBC state conventions, over 40,000 churches and over 10 million SBC members calling upon God to do what only He can do!
". . .to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man;"
Ah brethren! how great is the need for our service to Him in His kingdom; and how great is the need in our personal walk with Him. Great saints and great testimonies have been lived, given and shared for those that walked in the Spirit and not the flesh. To those that learned the need for alone time with God. And they overcame busy schedules, selfish choices and lazy disciplines to be found faithful with God each day. Out of those quiet times with God, God's Spirit speaks, moves and works for the glory of His name. Blessed are you that have learned this secret in your earthly time here.
As this call to prayer and fasting is your invite to join, we all recognize that there is nothing we can do for our nation, cities, families or even our ownselves apart form His mighty and gracious hand. We need the Lord! He has promised to send His Spirit, He has promised to be with us; and He has promised to strengthen us in our nearness to Him.
Christ directed His disciples to go into Jerusalem and wait. During that time of waiting they prayed and sought the Lord together. When 10 days had gone by and they had been faithful and obedient to their Lord, the power of Pentecost fell on them. Might and strength was given to the 120 in the upper room. God's work of glorious salvation was done and 3000 came to a saving knowledge and surrender of Christ. As the church continued to serve and be in prayer before Him, He continued to add daily to the church such as should be saved. He is so faithful to do His work in His servants that wait upon Him.
How much more for us today can He do the same? In the midst of nation of 330 million; somewhere around 15 - 20% of our population are professing Christians. This is estimated that 50 - 70 million are saved; meaning that 260 -280 are lost and without Christ. Do we not need the might and strength of the Spirit to come among us in His power and His ways to do His work? This is the reason of setting a day and a call to be intentional about coming together before the Lord together. Remote and separate in our many places of service and life, yet one in Spirit and body of Christ.
Many pastors are struggling, leaving the ministry. when asked of their quiet times with God, or ask of their bible readings and prayer times of their spiritual disciplines, the head drops and the eyes look away. We all know we must be much alone with God. And if we are not alone with Him and filled with His might and strength, then we are working in our own strength. Humanism is an awful doctrine int he church, "Lets look at what we can do." "Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit saith the Lord." Throw out all the humanism and religious efforts and let us call upon the Lord for Him to endue with Holy Presence.
Many families are crushed and in great need. Many issues face our nation, the church and our own personal lives. What might or strength do we have to do anything? All that we have is by His grace and mercy. Pray for yourself, families and nation. Pray one for another, that we all may be filled and overflowing in His might and strength. Oh Lord, how we need You! Hear our humble cry, while on others Thou art calling, please God don't pass us by.
Until,

"...to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man;"
Ah, brethren! How great is the need—both in our service to Him in His kingdom and in our personal walk with Him. Great saints and great testimonies came from those who walked in the Spirit, not the flesh. They learned the necessity of alone time with God—and they overcame busy schedules, selfish choices, and lazy disciplines to be found faithful with God each day.
Out of those quiet times, God’s Spirit moved and worked for the glory of His name. Blessed are you who have discovered this sacred truth during your time on earth.
As you consider this invitation to prayer and fasting, we must all acknowledge:
There is nothing we can do for our nation, our cities, our families—or even our own souls—apart from His mighty and gracious hand.
We need the Lord.
He has promised to send His Spirit.
He has promised to be with us.
He has promised to strengthen us as we draw near to Him.
When Christ directed His disciples to wait in Jerusalem, they obeyed and prayed. For ten days, they sought the Lord together. Then, the power of Pentecost fell. The Spirit strengthened the 120 in the upper room. The result? God’s glorious work of salvation – and 3,000 souls came to saving faith in Christ. As the church remained in prayer and service, He continued to add daily to those being saved.
He is still faithful to empower His servants who wait upon Him.
Can He not do the same for us today?
In a nation of 330 million, only an estimated 15–20% (roughly 50–70 million) are professing Christians. That leaves 260–280 million lost and without Christ.
Do we not desperately need the power and might of the Holy Spirit to come upon us? This is the very reason for setting aside a day—to intentionally gather before the Lord. Though we are scattered in many locations, we are one in Spirit, one Body of Christ.
Many pastors are struggling or even leaving the ministry. When asked about their quiet time with God—Bible reading, prayer, spiritual disciplines—the head drops, the eyes look away. Many confess their spiritual disciplines are not what they should be or ought to be. We know this truth: We must be alone with God.
If we are not filled with His strength, we operate in our own.
Humanism is a deadly doctrine in the church:
“Let’s see what we can do.”
But the Lord says, “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,” saith the Lord.
Let us throw out all humanistic and religious efforts, and call upon the Lord to endue us with His holy presence.
Many families are broken.
Many churches are in need.
Many issues plague our nation and our personal lives.
What strength do we have to face any of it?
All that we have is by His grace and mercy.
Pray—for yourself, for your family, for the church, for the nation.
Pray for one another, that we may all be filled and overflowing with His might and strength.
Oh Lord, how we need You!
Hear our humble cry; while on others Thou art calling, please do not pass us by.
Until,
Dan Biser
