PRAYER EMAIL - MAY 20

 Greetings, "Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord. . . Why do you such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.  . . if a man sin against the Lord, who shall intreat for him?. . . for the iniquity which he knoweth. . . because he restrained them not."  I Samuel 2 & 3 I am in the midst of the "Great Questions of the Bible" and came across these questions and verses earlier this week.  The Lord will not leave me alone with these passages.  Let us note the questions for our application of prayer times and point out the prayer targets for our personal and corporate use.   Question 1 - 'Why do you such things?'  Eli knew, had heard, and been told what his sons had been doing in great sins against the Lord and the people.  This is the reason that I started with the first phrase, 'the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord.'  How much sin is 'very great'?  How much sin takes it from s

PRAYER EMAIL - MAY 13

 Greetings, " . . . Lord God of israel, let it be known this day that Thou art God in Israel. . . Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that Thou art the Lord God, and that Thou hast turned their heart back again."  I Kings 18:36 - 37  This is the great victory of Elijah over Ahab; of the Lord God over Baal and all their evil.  This is the great prayer offered to the Lord God to be victorious over the false images of Ahab and the servants of Baal.  Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised.  Throughout Scripture this word, "know" is found.  It is a very powerful study; and of its implications to our Christian walk.  The apostle Paul prayed it in Philippians, 'that I may know Him'.  And here Elijah is praying it unto the Lord, 'that they may know that You are the Lord God of Israel.'  How much more then, for us, in our present state for the church to pray and know the power of this truth, 'to know Him.'   Often in the Christian
