IS THE LORD AMONG US OR NOT - A PLEA FOR SBC

Greetings, ". . . and because they tempted the Lord, saying, Is the Lord among us, or not?"  Exodus 17:7 ". . . and they sought Him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.  And when they found Him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking Him. . . they found Him. . . "  John 2:44 -- 46 What a question to ask by the children of Israel, in Exodus 17.  After all that the Lord had done for them in bringing them out of Egypt, with great power and many signs and wonders; bringing them safely over the Red Sea and delivering them from the hand of their enemy, the Egyptians; and leading them with mercy after mercy through the wilderness providing both food and water.  For them then to ask, 'Is the Lord among us or not?'   Yes, and His Presence and mercies are all around to see.   And then we have this passage in John 2.  Christ at the age of 12, is beginning to mature and grow in the things of His Father.  But assumption by His parents that He was with them,

PRAYER EMAIL - AUGUST 18

Greetings, "for, behold he prayeth."  Acts 9:11 Paul (Saul) has had an encounter with the Lord Jesus.  He has lost his eyesight.  He has been condemned by the Lord, being questioned, 'what do you think you are doing?'   And now, left to his own self, to process what has happened and what is going to happen, he is overwhelmed.  And then in the midst of these 3 days, the Lord sends him a vision, revealing Ananias will come in and restore his eyesight.  His anguish is over what he has been doing with his life against the Lord.  No doubt, in these 3 days of prayer and fasting, he has done the 'godly sorrow unto repentance'.  And God will meet him and send him forth for the rest of his days to serve the Lord for His kingdom. Crisis, trials are meant to refine and purge us from self and the world.  In the moment, there is often a lack of knowledge of what is going on.  There are 3 types of people in crisis times. 1.  those that fall part and are overwhelmed, in the

PRAYER EMAIIL - AUGUST 12

Greetings, "And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees:  that say in their heart, The Lord will not do good, neither will He do evil."  Zephaniah 1:12 What in the world do you do after back to back, 100 Hours of prayer?  Very intentional, protracted times, that caused us to be more alone with Him in prayer.  The one thing, that I have heard over the years from seasoned pastors, 'watch out for Sunday nights'.  After a day of preaching, serving and fulness of God, to rest and relax and allowance of sin to creep in.  The worst thing that can be done, is what we find God condemning in this verse, 'that we settle down on our lees.'  A symbolic description of the wine being left and wasting.  So we settle down in contentment and ease and this leads to our ruin.  Christ said it, 'why cumbereth it the ground?'   God declares, 'I will search' in the cities and hom

Community Issue - 2023 - Car Accidents

TO THE CHURCHES:  MINERAL; HAMPSHIRE; ALLEGANY; HARDY; GRANT & GARRETT "In wrath remember mercy"  Habakkuk 3:2 "Help us, O Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men."  Psalm 12:1 This past Sunday in our prayer concerns, I reiterated what I have been hearing and seeing for the last months, a rise in car accidents and fatalities.  Car accidents and death have been a constant in our community and across the nation all of our lives.  But it is to pay attention and discern, 'what's going on?' when those numbers increase drastically.  It is not unusual for us to hear or read of a single fatality, once every 6 months or once a year.  But to have a constant monthly report of 'another tragedy' and 'tragic death' in our small area, is unprecedented.  What is going on?   In our focus of concern, our churches minister to the surrounding 6 counties of close proximity:  Mineral, Hampshire, Allegany, Hardy

100 HOURS OF PRAYER FOR SBC - WHAT'S NEXT

Greetings, "Continue in prayer"  - Colossians 4:2 "Prayer without ceasing" - I Thess. 5:17 "I give myself unto prayer" - Psalm 109:4 The seriousness of our hour is much upon us.  And such a condition requires, such a call to protracted & focused prayer, as the 100 Hours of Prayer for SBC.  A nation, right in front of our eyes, that is being given over to 'reprobate minds'.  How often in decades gone by, that I heard preachers preach, and teachers teach, and prayer warriors pray against Romans 1 happening.  Yet now, on my watch, and your watch, it is happening all around us.  On our streets, among our homes, in our churches, and in headlines near and far.  We have left the horrendous remedial judgements of the Lord against our homes, cities, nations and churches and gone on to the next stage - EPIDEMICS.   Epidemics of drugs, natural disasters, LGBT advance, children abused, neglected and targeted; suicides, murder-suicides; police officers sho

Prayer Email - 100 Hours of Prayer for SBC - III

Greetings, "men ought always to pray, and not to faint."  Luke 18:1  In the last month, we have had a Solemn Assembly for our local churches; followed by '100 Hours of Prayer' for the local churches & many of you, my prayer partners on this prayer email joined us.  And now we come to this last protracted time of prayer, 100 Hours of Prayer for SBC.  God sets His people to pray for His purposes and His will to be done.  And yet, prayer is hard to find among the churches today.  Many know they should pray, but refuse to make time.  Many desire to pray better, but have no teaching on how to pray.  Neither are they around seasoned prayer warriors that can impart what they have learned.  And much of the evil and wickedness of today in our nation, cities and homes, is because, we, as God's people have ceased praying. A generation ago, you could hear and know of 'all night prayer meetings'.  Now, they are a rare diamond to find.  Among Wednesday night church

100 HOURS OF PRAYER FOR SBC - II

Greetings "And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and here was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand."  Revelation 8:3 - 4 What a sight is given here!   A brief vision of the throne room of God.  Where the prayers of God's children are offered up with holy incense in the golden censer  before Him.  So much of God is found here.  From the angels, to the altar, to the throne room of God, to the golden censer and incense, all of which brings us to that most holy place before His holy throne.  And here we are, given this great opportunity and privilege to enter in, through Christ, our Lord, King and Saviour, and 'make our requests known to Him'.  God created and gave us this special means of prayer to "draw nigh t
