SBC JULY PRAYER & FASTING - JULY 3

Greetings,

"In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple."  Isaiah 6:1

What a Divine moment!

Have you had a Divine moment recently? Has your church experienced one?
Last year, Steve Gaines shared that during one of their Sunday services at Bellevue Baptist in Memphis, God came into the service in a powerful way. Steve said, “God just took over. Only twice in my ministry have I experienced something like that.”

Great movements of God come through prayer and fasting. God is sovereign and can do anything He wants, whenever He wants. He is not bound by our scheduled services or even by our calls for prayer and fasting. Yet, historical records reveal that whenever God was preparing to move in a Divine way, He first set His people to pray.

Our world is in chaos. Our cities and streets in the U.S. are filled with anarchy and evil. The Church languishes, desperate for Divine help. As the Church goes, so goes the nation, brethren! We need a Divine moment in our personal lives and in our churches—a Divine outpouring of God’s power and Presence that clearly reveals Who He is.

Many of the saints have observed that one of the great sins of the modern Church is this: “We don't know Who God is.” A Divine visitation and revelation can change that. May our prayer echo the words of the Apostle Paul: “Oh, that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection.”

Isaiah saw the Lord in all His glory. Such a Divine vision puts the evils and wrongs of this world into proper perspective. Gazing upon and adoring the Lord God can change a pastor, a church, and our influence on our communities, families, and friends. Let us seek the Lord. Let us “be still and know that He is God.” Give time and space to be alone with Him. May your priority during these days of prayer and fasting echo Andrew Murray’s plea: “Be much alone with God.”

Seek the Lord that He may be found—in your life, your church, and across the SBC.

Do you think Isaiah went back to “normal” after seeing that holy vision of God? I do not believe that anyone returns to a normal life after a Divine visitation. I have spoken with people who have experienced great moves of God and asked each of them the same question—unaware of one another’s responses.  Such men were mostly those that had gone through a season of revival. Men like Henry Blackaby, Ralph Sutera, Dennis Kinlaw and Wesley Duewel.

I asked, “After you have experienced such a Divine moment—such a time of His manifest Presence—how do you come down from that extraordinary encounter?”
They all answered the same: “It is always with an expectation for God to do it again.”

Let that be our prayer of agreement: “Do it again, Lord. Do it again.”

You are invited to join us on the 1st Thursday of each month for a day of prayer and fasting.
Invite others to join in this holy pursuit—that God might come and send revival upon His Church and spiritual awakening among the lost in our nation and world.

Set aside the day on your calendar. Dedicate specific time and space to seek the Lord—for yourself, your association, your state convention, and across all of SBC life.
