SBC PRAYER & FASTING - APRIL
Greetings,
Matthew 17:20 - 21, "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith of a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place: and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. v. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting."
Matthew 18:18 - 20, "Verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. v. 19 Again, I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in heaven. v. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there am I in the midst of them."
Matthew 21:21 & 22, "Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea: it shall be done. v. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."
"My house is to be a house of prayer."
This Thursday, and each first Thursday of the month, you are being asked to join us and help promote this call to the church—fasting and praying for revival. Great evils plague our society; vast multitudes are lost and perishing, and the church seemingly has little power to intervene. Yet, through my Bible readings this week in the Gospel of Matthew, I was blessed by these encouraging words of our Lord.
We call them spiritual disciplines, yet many have allowed them to fall by the wayside. There is a prevailing spirit of disobedience regarding prayer, fasting, and having great faith in our Lord—believing that He is able. As a new month begins, we have set aside Thursday, April 3, as a day of prayer and fasting before the Lord for two key matters:
-
Real Revival in His Church—His Body of Believers
God is with us. He has promised that where two or three are gathered together, He is in the midst. Yet, this is not the fullness of what we declare as His Manifest Presence—His Shekinah glory abiding, filling, leading, and bringing glory to Himself.-
Real revival restores spiritual disciplines and increases faith for greater works of His kingdom.
-
Real revival sweeps away spiritual slumber, lethargy, and apathy in service to our Lord.
-
Real revival removes lukewarmness and sets our hearts on fire, causing us to serve with gladness, zeal, and joy.
-
Real revival destroys humanism and restores pure, true worship.
-
-
Spiritual Awakening—For Those Dead in Trespasses and Sins
We need a mighty move of the Holy Ghost to bring conviction and conversion—one that surpasses religion, human effort, and best intentions. Only God can do this.-
In past awakenings, those truly born again did not turn back or walk away but remained faithful to the end.
-
We will also be interceding for our six seminaries—their presidents, faculty, students, and surrounding communities. May revival break out in their classrooms, chapel services, dorms, and homes, flowing into their cities with the Gospel of Christ.
The apostle Paul declared, "I was not disobedient to the heavenly calling." Brethren, we also have a calling—to walk faithfully with God in prayer, fasting, and great faith. Let us set aside this day to seek the Lord, believing that He is able to meet us in these ways.
Our society is filled with great evil, rampant abominations, spiritual blindness, and a desperate need for what only God can do. How do we see such a move? How do we obtain such a Divine intervention? By maintaining our spiritual disciplines.
You know the words: "Abide in Me"; "Walk with Me"; "Know Me"; "Be still"; "Call upon Me." Many confess that they have allowed these disciplines to fade. Is there a better time to renew and restore them than now?
Will you hear and obey this invitation to join us in prayer and fasting for these specific needs—for His honor and glory?
Until,
Dan Biser

Greetings,
Matthew 17:20 - 21, "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith of a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place: and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
These are not empty words. They are divine truths. But are we living by them?
The Urgent Need for Revival and Awakening
Jesus declared, "My house shall be called a house of prayer." Yet in our generation, prayer and fasting have been neglected, replaced by complacency and distraction. The church, which should be a force against the darkness, often appears powerless. Society is drowning in evil, souls are perishing, and Satan advances without restraint.
This must not continue. We are calling on you—on the Church—to rise up in faith, to fast, and to pray.
Each first Thursday of the month, we are setting aside a day of prayer and fasting to seek the Lord for two crucial things:
1. A True Revival in the Church
God has promised His presence among His people, but revival is more than gathering—it is His manifest glory transforming us. We must cry out for:
-
A restoration of spiritual disciplines—prayer, fasting, and unwavering faith.
-
A breaking of spiritual slumber—no more lethargy, apathy, or lukewarm service.
-
A fresh fire of devotion—where joy, zeal, and passion for God’s kingdom burn in our hearts.
-
A return to pure worship—not man-centered religion, but a God-exalting outpouring of His presence.
2. A Great Spiritual Awakening for the Lost
Multitudes are trapped in sin, blind to truth, and bound for destruction. We must intercede for:
-
A mighty move of the Holy Spirit—convicting hearts and drawing souls to salvation.
-
Genuine conversions—not just emotional responses, but true, lasting transformation.
-
A demonstration of God's power—beyond human strategies, beyond programs, simply God at work.
A Special Focus: Praying for Our Seminaries
We are lifting up the six seminaries—their presidents, faculty, students, and communities—praying that revival will ignite in their classrooms, chapel services, dormitories, and cities. May the next generation of church leaders be filled with the fire of God!
Will You Answer the Call?
Paul declared, "I was not disobedient to the heavenly calling." Will we be?
We are at a crossroads. The darkness in our culture grows deeper, but God has not changed. His power is as real today as it was in days of great awakenings past. The question is: will we seek Him? Will we discipline ourselves to fast and pray until the heavens open?
This Thursday, April 3, let us come before the Lord in fasting and prayer—not out of ritual, but with urgency, with expectation, with faith that moves mountains.
Will you commit? Will you stand in the gap? Will you believe that God is able?
Now is the time. Let us seek His face together.
Until,
Dan Biser
