100 HOURS OF PRAYER FOR SBC - II

 Greetings
"And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and here was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand."  Revelation 8:3 - 4

What a sight is given here!   A brief vision of the throne room of God.  Where the prayers of God's children are offered up with holy incense in the golden censer  before Him.  So much of God is found here.  From the angels, to the altar, to the throne room of God, to the golden censer and incense, all of which brings us to that most holy place before His holy throne.  And here we are, given this great opportunity and privilege to enter in, through Christ, our Lord, King and Saviour, and 'make our requests known to Him'.  God created and gave us this special means of prayer to "draw nigh to Him, that He might draw nigh to us."   Prayer is the greatest moment during our days when we speak to Him, and He speaks to us; it is a Divine interaction.  Prayer is the means by which, God has created for Him to set forth His will and ways.  It has been stated much, 'God always sets His people to pray, when He is ready to move and act.'

Can we not consider for a moment, that this is perhaps why God has set this burden, to call SBC to a protracted & focused time of prayer?  That God is ready and wanting to move mightily for His glory, and He has been waiting for us to seek Him, call upon Him and wait before Him in unity.  Many pray for the SBC as individuals, or on their own.  But praying together brings power from His promised Word.  But what shall we say of those that pray not?  For long has this battle raged, in the 2000 years of church history, which is the sin of prayerlessness.  Hell loves and rejoices and advances much when God's people, 'pray not'.  We have talked much, fought hard to set before the SBC to be 'houses of prayer' and to be 'a people of prayer'.  Many have confessed: 'I have no prayer life'; 'I know I should pray more, but I find it hard'; 'I've never been taught how to pray'.  It is not that this '100 Hours of Prayer for SBC' will remedy these confessions.  But if God be intreated with us, great can be the answer to stir many a pastor, church, leader to make prayer a priority again.

With this great privilege of prayer and coming before His holy throne, to offer prayer, let us not miss this Divine invitation.  Let not God supply the entrance to His Presence, the golden censer, the incense, and yet we, as His saints, remain silent.  Let it not be said of us, 'they prayed not'.   With so much of our future, nation, homes, and the state of the church in jeopardy, let us plead and expect for God to remedy these things.  This is the reason that we will pray in agreement, believing the instruction, 'if two of you agree, as touching anything on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.'  Agreeing on the following 3 prayer targets:
1.  Revival - a Divine visitation of God upon His church and the pulpits;  great moments of history has been made when God poured out His fullness upon His church.  This is our greatness need.

2.  "Possess the land" - Deuteronomy 30;  Go in and possess it for His glory Name's sake; Psalm 2 - "Ask of Me, and I shall give thee the nations for Thy possession"; give us our cities, streets, homes, and the minds & hearts of men that are evil affected in these days;  Possess us, O Lord, take us and use us all of SBC life for Your glory;

3.  A prayer for God to work in, and through SBC for His kingdoms will and ways.  'Finish the task";  Gospel to go to all nations, raise up within us laborers for the harvest, for it is white.

May we give ourselves to the motto of Psalm 109:4, "I give myself unto prayer."  And through prevailing prayer, may we see a work of God.  A work that causes hell to retreat, and heaven to advance.  A move of God that states it, 'look what God hath wrought."
