PRAYER EMAIL - JUNE 24

 Greetings,
"Whence comest thou, Gehazi?  And he said, Thy servant went no whither.  And he said unto him,  Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee?"
II Kings 5:25 - 26

"Went not mine heart with thee?"   What a powerful phrase issued here.  I used this last Sunday night for my meditation/devotion and prayer in our Community Prayer time.  And it is still speaking to my soul.  I pray you may use it also.  Elisha had rejected all the gifts, that Naaman had offered to the prophet for healing him of his leprosy.  Yet, Gehazi had desires of greed, and lusts.  And when he went after Naaman to secure clothes and silver; he got it.  Yet his departure for earthly things costs him.  And when he returned to the prophet's house, the prophet called him out for his sin.  'Be sure your sin will find you out!'  This phrase is found throughout Scripture and in many of saints and our own testimonies.

"Went not mine heart with thee" -  In Scripture:  how often in Scripture when we see the choices of men go contrary to the commands of God that this phrase, if not said, is thought.  And yet, each time we read of it, it is with grief and sorrow, knowing that any sin in Scripture, we all are capable of doing, and we are simply, 'by grace, I am what I am'.  Judas betrays Christ at the last supper.  And Christ turns to him and declares, 'that thou doest, do quickly'.  And Judas got up and left to betray Him.  Did not Christ's heart go with him?  There is Peter that denies Him 3 times that same night, and in each betrayal, 'did not Christ heart go with him?'    There is David, 'a man after God's Own heart'.  and yet, on one fateful evening, arising from a nap, he sees and lusts over a woman bathing and commits adultery with her.  Then murders her husband.  Adultery and murder, and in each choice to do this sin, did not God's heart go with him?  When Samson sinned and told Delilah all that secured his strength, did not God's heart go with him in his choice to trust in a deceiver?    I can tell you that as Hebrews, chapter 11, is the great chapter of men and women of faith; so there is a chapter of all those that chose to sin and go against the Lord, and each time, God's heart went with them.

"went not mine heart with thee" - and what shall be said of so many saints in our hour?   Each mark and blemish in the church today, does Christ heart not break for such?  EAch headline, of another pastor, another youth minister, another 'Christian' arrested on sexual abuse; went not my heart with you?  That such evil, such folly, such an occasion against our Lord, all the saints hearts should be grieved and lamenting.  How often through my Christian life, known and unknown preachers, saints, in the church, faithful, respected; and then that fateful day, 'did you hear about so and so?  They were caught in a sin."  'Whatever happened to so and so? They just dropped off the radar.  Didn't you know?  they left the ministry, the church, they were found in sin."   Far too many, far too often; and in each time that it happens, went not my heart with them?  Surely your heart is not callous, or unfeeling; are we not commanded 'pray one for another'?   Not one brother or sister to lose; not one to fall away; not one to leave the church; and yet, this is the testimony of our day.  How about when Duncan Campbell says of Hebrides, 'We know not of any backslider in our midst!"   This is our desire for the church and each other.  Curse the day, when one asks, 'what about Demas?  Oh, he has forsaken me, having loved this present world.'  Each saint gone and lost to sin, self and Satan, and our hearts break when they went out from us, because they were not of us.

'went not mine heart with thee" -  and there is always to such Scripture and meditation the personal accountability and reflection.  What way went your heart?  with the Lord, or away from the Lord?  We are 1/2 way through 2023, in this next week.  And what can be said of your walk with the Lord.  Has your heart in the first half of this year, grown in steadfastness and holiness?  have you increased in faith and prayer?  Greater intimacy and nearness to the Lord; what shall be said of you?  Or do you come to the 1/2 way point of this year and have to stop and say, 'what am I doing?'   You know what it is to do right, and to not do it, is sin.  Many a saint have departed from the secret closet, we see the stats of so many departing from church to just sit and watch on line.  And far too many confess they are not reading and studying the Scriptures as they should.  Let these standards reflect where you are in your personal time and walk with the Lord.  Can the Lord come to you, even now, and say, 'in you I am well pleased?  Or knowing your weakness, your unfaithfulness, your loss of time and days with Him, He says to you, every time you chose self over your Savior; everytime you chose temporal over eternal; every time you chose flesh over Spirit; everytime you chose earth over heaven; "went not mine heart with thee".

Be resolved and much before Him, in these days.  Our nation has been blest with numerous testimonies of His Presence this year, thus far.  But do not keeping looking back and forget the present and the future.  We need God's Divine help and presence like never before for our cities, homes, and churches.  Seek Him, and He will be found of you.  may you say to Him and of Him, 'went not my heart with You' in the cool of the day in the garden.  blessings!
