PRAYER EMAIL - JUNE 17

 Greetings,
II Kings 3:13, 'What have I to do with thee?"
4:2, "What shall I do for thee?"
4:13, "What is to be done for thee?"
4:14, "What then is to be done for her?"

What a contrast here!  to the king of Israel, the prophet Elisha, declares, 'what have I to do with thee?'  And furthers his rebuke toward him, to go and pray to the false gods, in whom he serves.  But in chapter 4, the prophet Elisha is asking in two separate situations, 'what shall I do for you?  or what is to be done for thee?'

We stand before the Lord God Almighty; what a contrast if God was to reply in this manner.  What would you do, if God would say to you, as Elisha said to the king; what have I to to with you?  Most only view, and it is much taught in the church today, that God says to everyone, 'what do you want done?'  As if God was a genie to grant our every desire and wish.  Many have gotten angry and bitter toward God because He did not give them what they wanted.  But the true Christian knows that this is not the case, nor ever do they approach God in such a manner.  They ask and request from the Lord as He instructed.  The true Christian knows it is not about us, but about Him; His kingdom come and His will be done, not mine!

But let me ask of you, what would you have to be done?  what are you praying for?  what is the desire of your heart?  how often do you pray for those that will hear shortly, 'what have I to do with you?' For the Christian knows, that the next words of God, at that point shall be, 'Depart from Me, ye worker of iniquity; I never knew you."  How often do you pray? how often do you come before Him?  Have we not found that the sin of prayerlessness is one of the greatest sins of the church?  Many say prayers, but few prevail in prayers.  Every prayer warrior should desire to hear the words of Jacob, 'What is your name?  My name is Jacob.  No longer shall your name be Jacob, but Israel; for you have prevailed with God and man."  Yes!  a thousand times yes, be a prevailer with God and men!  Would you have this said of you?

What do you pray to be done for the church today?  Many prayers for blessings on our programs, our agendas, and our efforts.  Many requests for prayer for the physical needs afflicting so many.  I often wonder when people make request how often they really do pray for that request? or is it simply to make mention of them?  Only the Lord knows; but make sure you are faithful to pray for what is asked of you.   And who is there around you in your circle of friends, family or church family, that you could go to and know that when you ask them to pray for you, they really do pray for you?  How small is that number.  And how great the blessing when someone writes and communicates to you, 'I prayed for you today."  Oswald Chambers, 'Do not say you will pray about something; pray about it."

And is there not a test to be run here with this 'great questions of the bible'. 'What would you have me to to do for you?'  'What would you have done?"    How much would be done for your life, your families life, your church family, you city, our nation and the world and His kingdom; for what you have asked this day?  for this week?   How much difference and impact for the kingdom, for lives, for future would be done, in answer to 'what would you have done?'   Ah brethren, pray like there is no tomorrow; for many there will not be.  Pray often, lest Satan take the ground.  Pray much, for there is much to be prayed for.  With this greatest of our spiritual weapons, may it be used often.

Lastly, deal with the first question honestly of our nation and the church.  We come seeking self and sin in our prayers far too often.  We seek our will and deny His will.  We seek all the advancements of health, wealth and ease, rather than His will be done.  Sin is rampant and excessive in and out of the church and we dare come before the Holy of Holy Ones and have the audacity to ask for such things.  It is not a wonder that He would say, 'what have I to do with you?'  It is declared, that the Lord honors and reveres the one that comes with 'broken and contrite' spirit He will not deny.  How often do you see and hear such praying?  And often men come for blessings upon what God has already cursed.  It is not shock that He says, 'what have I to with you'.    And think much of those that stand and will stand before Him upon their last breath of this earth and how awful that scene will be, 'what have I to do with you'.   Broken and contrite now; while there is still time.

SBC CONVENTION
Yes, I did attend the SBC convention for a few days.  It was a whirlwind trip from Fl (for Philips friend's marriage) and then to Pensacola to hear Ted Traylor preach; and then on to New Orleans.  Many of those that I desired to see and talk with I did not get to.  And several I was able to visit with and enjoyed it.
SBC prayer meeting was hosted by Kie Bowman; he had Bill Elliff and Robbie Gallaty.  This prayer meeting was Sunday evening right before the Pastor's Conference.  I think estimates were around 100 SBC prayer warriors there.  About 1/4 of them I knew from my long, extensive time seeking for SBC to pray.   But I am aware, that this meeting held was an answer to prayer and labor since 2007/2008, over 15 years.  Grateful to men like Ronnie Floyd and others that made this happen and these that continue it.
But with all that SBC is facing, prayer is still not a priority among us.  We still are not houses of prayer, nor a people of prayer.  With all these issues and needs upon SBC, we all should have been in that room seeking the face of God.  I was contacted last week before the convention, of helping to fill the prayer room; they were seeking 6 people to man the prayer room from start to finish in shifts.  They could not find 6 people to pray for two shifts!  Does that not say volumes about us?  100 people in a prayer meeting?  Does that not say volumes?  But God was merciful during the days of the convention.  Great unrest occurred, but overall a consensus was found.  Not unity, consensus!  Already seeing reports and statements of those leaving the convention and making unbiblical statements.

SOLEMN ASSEMBLY - JULY 16
Great need of this hour for our area, city and church.  And as previously mentioned, with all that is facing us, we must come before the Lord and plead with Him.  It was 2012, that I stood and begged of the SBC convention to call for a Solemn Assembly to be held and the Lord to be sought.  I, of course, was ruled, 'Out of order" for such a motion.  But the Solemn Assembly is the answer for our day to come before the Lord, 'broken and contrite.'  It is to worship Him, confess before Him and make our requests know before Him.  The other local pastors have agreed to hosts this in Keyser during our 3rd Sunday of the month prayer time.  Emmanuel Church at 6 PM.  Not certain if we will run live stream or not.
