100 HOUR OF PRAYER - SBC

 Greetings,
"Pray without ceasing"  I Thessalonians 5:
"Continue in prayer"  Colossians 4:2
"but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him."  Act 12:5

Over the last several years, our local churches and prayer partners have engaged twice a year in protracted times of prayer.  There are numerous prayer initiatives found throughout the church and Christian body.  There is the 24/7 prayer movement; there are 10 days of prayer around Pentecost; there is weekly prayer meetings/& prayer initiatives; and there is daily prayer times used and employed by the church.  Of course, the worst prayer to be found among the church is no prayer.  The sin of prayerlessness is still much among our churches and for our Christian brothers and sisters.  For a long time, SBC has fought and sought to maintain about being 'a people of the Book'.  No doubt, a battle that will rage till Christ returns.  But what about the battle to become houses of payer and a people of prayer?

To overcome the great sin of prayerlessness named among us, an intentional effort must be set before us to engage in prayer.  There are numerous prayer ministries, and helps out there to employ to lead, teach and enable our prayer lives to improve and deepen.  And with the condition of our nation and our churches, there is this catalyst that we would come before Him to seek His help and mercy for this hour.  The SBC has a great opportunity to grow and see God's mighty hand move if we will seek Him.  "If you seek Me, you shall find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

The climate of our homes, cities and families reveals a great need for us to seek Him.  There are far too many lost souls, much advances of great evils on every front in our schools, work places, cities and homes through ordinances, laws, and practices.  Let us set aside 100 Hours of Prayer that will be a voice of continually coming before Him for these issues and situations.  As we have done this numerous times in years gone by, we ask that people will sign up for 15 minute increments, to pray focused, specific prayers.  Prayers that are 'against' the sins and evils of our day; and prayer that are 'for' the advancements and victories for His kingdom.  Specific prayer targets, Scriptures to pray over the SBC leadership & entities, churches, pastors, state conventions, associations and advancement of His kingdom 'to come and His will to be done', in and through us as His people.

Focused prayers:
1.  worship - acknowledgement of Who He is and what He has revealed and declared about Himself in His Names, attributes and word & deeds.
2.  confession - the great need to be specific of our nations sins and wickedness before Him; sins of the church and how we have come short of His glory; and personal sins that should not be named among us.
3.  petitions/supplications/intercessions:
--Revival - when God comes down and among us people and we are cleansed, empowered by His Spirit and great advance of His kingdom is done because God is for us and not against us.
--Spiritual Awakening - great work of God's Spirit upon the lost masses that brings many to Christ; great evils retreat and there is much victory and deliverance over sins.  Lost family, friends, neighbours and communities/cities; lost nations, kingdoms, unreached people groups;
--provisions - "harvest is ripe/labourers are few; pray therefore that the Lord will raise up laborers"; we pray for preachers, teachers, missionaries to be raised up for this hour to finish the task; there is an abundance of need financially to support and advance the kingdom through these workers and technology for interpreters of the languages; and means to employ it;  we pray to Jehovah-Jireh to provide;  'we have no might against this enemy" and Jehoshaphat prayed to God for His help, His victory for His people; should we not pray the same?
