PRAYER EMAIL - JANUARY 7

 Greetings,
"Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid?  shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?"  Amos 3:6

If these first days of the new year, are any indication for what lies ahead for us, we are in serious trouble.  It is almost imperative to see and understand that our epidemics, that have long been with us for months, yea, some of them years, have reached the tipping point.  And all of this, of God's cup of wrath, over the last days is showing us what shall be.  And it is an astonishing, horrifying display of God's wrath and judgement on us.  The distractions and busyness of many within the church, who have refused to see it and respond to it, are mystified by what is happening.  But the basic principle of God's creation and responses is happening, 'what you sow, is what you reap.'  'Those that sow unto the Spirit shall reap life everlasting, but those that sow to the flesh, shall reap corruption.'

The above text, sets it before us, a trumpet has sounded, the sound of war, alarm.  And sometimes the uncertainty of that sound, ushers forth fear.  I believe there is a glaze over many, a shell shock attitude to what is happening.  The trumpet has been sounding, but no response.  All you have to do, to undo this response is consider how far we have come in judgements compared to 20 years ago.  That thought of how far we have fallen in 20 years, should bring fear and alarm of the trumpet sounding.  And the evil has entered into our cities.  Far too many have explained away how this evil arrived and came to pass.  Nothing happens under the sun without God.  God causes it, God allows it, God does it.  The ways and the will of God we are to be know, especially by His church.  God hath done it, God hath sent this evil.  Not an evil of sin and wickedness (for God cannot do or be sin/evil of transgressions), but evil of the horrible things of His judgement.  God's wrath and evil have come upon the land, the cities, the homes, the churches.  "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."

What now?  I'm back to my own thoughts of what the church response should be, ought to be.  We have seen over the years, attempts at all this.  But refusal by many, and little fervency or urgency by the majority.  Many are in ignorance of what is going on and why.  A fairly detailed Scriptural account is to be presented before the people explaining judgements, national, church, self and generational sins and what God requires as an answer.  Calls for prayer, fasts, are in place by many at the beginning of this year, by churches and individuals, and ministries, which is great to see.  but a more unified response by the church to set repentance of these things should be before them.  Joel 1 & 2 is the example due to the increase of evil, and the increase of death and dying among us.  We have missed so many windows of opportunities that God has given us.  And now we are at the final judgement.

1.  Inform the people of the Word of God as to what is happening and why this is happening.

2.  A call to correct the evil that has been done to provoke and anger the Lord to send and allow such evil on our cities.

3.  Corporate and personal confession, repentance and intercessory roles before the Lord for His mercies.  Begging and pleading, 'in wrath remember mercy'.

4.  Continual.  To many believe its 'one and done'.  But a perpetual, consistent, faithful, stedfast perpetual prayer must continue.

We are leaving the sphere of remedial judgements and entering into our final judgement as a nation.  The church largely responsible for this.  We have had decades to prevail, and failed.  The intensity and frequency are increasing.  The impact more devastating and the culmination of all these decades that have brought us to this point, is unfolding even now.

I continue to seek and promote prayer, fasting and repentance, corporate and personal.  I said it again to a prayer leader this week, 'I will not get on the other side of final judgement, and say, "I wish I would have done more."  I will do more while we still have time and opportunity.

Two days coming up for a day of prayer and call to prayer;  January - SBC broadcast to issue this call to churches.  February set another broadcast for all the church.
