CALL TO PRAYER TO SBC

Greetings,
I am writing to share with you this day and time of prayer.  I have asked several of our group to join me for 'A Call to Pray -- Prevail in Prayer' on January 28.  This will be a broadcast that will be a message to SBC state conventions, associations, entities and churches.  These 6 speakers will bring a word to help us to continue to make prayer our priority.  A heart passion I know we all carry.  And although it is not a corporate prayer setting, which I believe we desperately need, it will set before us the Word of the Lord for prevailing prayer.  We, as the church, cannot be found guilty of vain praying, but it must be prevailing prayer.  Many different religions pray, and many pray more passionately and vehemently than Christians do.  We are to be houses of prayer, and to be men and women of prayer.  Let us have that witness as Jacob did when he wrestled with the angel -'Thou hast prevailed with God and with men.'

One year ago, we met via live stream to continue to seek how God might lead us and use us for SBC prayer life.  With Ronnie's resignation, that which we had been assembled for, had lost its focus and lead.  SBC executive committee has that task to promote prayer and lead prayer.  We should continue to help in all ways with that.  But a whole year has elapsed, and many troublous times have continued to come across our nation, denomination, homes and our cities.  A great need to prevail in prayer for real revival and a spiritual awakening, has never been more needed.  And we all know that only a prevailing spirit in prayer will do.  It is our mandate to continue to seek for SBC churches to become houses of prayer and our laity to become men and women of prayer.  And every opportunity should be intentional and setting before us this desire to pray.  How constant is our plea, 'Lord, teach us to pray'.

As many of you have started off the new year with 21 days of prayer and fasting.  Others with special emphasis on prayer, in your respective roles and places, we rejoice in all of this.  I have continued to try and keep watch of what you all are up to in the Lord's work.   This information is simply to make you aware of Jan. 28, and the purpose of it for SBC prayer.  Pray for these speakers, and pray for ears to hear among SBC and others that will listen and watch.  And let us continue to strive to 'give ourselves unto prayer' for His kingdom and His glory.

blessings,

Until,
