PRAYER EMAIL - DECEMBER 16

 Greetings,
". . . and the watchman went up to the roof. . ." II Samuel 18:24 - 27
" And the watchman cried and told the king."
"And the watchman saw another man running, and the watchman called unto the porter. . . . "

As prayer warriors, prayer partners, and praying men and women, we are called to be the watchman for our Lord and His kingdom. 'Watchman, what of the night?'  See here in this account the activity of the watchman.  David has been betrayed by his own son, Absalom.  David is in a city, as his mighty men have gone to defend and deal with Absalom and the armies of Israel.  Joab has slain Absalom and he sends a runner with the news of the death of Absalom.  As the runners approaches the city, the watchman sees and fulfills his responsibility to the king.  Note the 4 actions of the watchman that are a mirror of our prayer life as watchman for the King and His kingdom:

1.  The watchman went up - dear praying ones, it is always blessed at that appointed time in which 'you go up' into His Presence, before His throne room.  We pray often for God to come down.  Many pray Isaiah for God to rend the heavens and come down.  And that is needed and it is wonderful, but I tell you that it is much better to go up.  And for many churches and Christians this cannot be said, that 'they went up'.  A matter of fact, many dear brethren, if asked, 'when was the last time you sat before the Lord? when was the last time you went up?'  They could not honestly tell you.  But a watchman goes up.  usually at appointed and set times.  'Evening, morning and at noon, will I lift my cry before Him'; 'Daniel prayed 3 times a day before Him.'  the apostle Paul, 'were prayer was wont to be made.'  GO UP!  and be much before Him.  For that is the most right place to be in, in that one can be, before and with the Lord.  Watchmen go up and speak to Him, and listen to Him and report to Him and plead with Him.   There is much failure among the church to go up before Him.  Thus it falls on many of you, the remnant.  May this be our epitaph, 'and they went up to pray, as watchmen before the Blessed One.'

2.  and the watchman cried unto the king.  -    we serve the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords;  this watchman in this phrase reported to King David, a man.  And although he was a man after God's Own heart, nevertheless, still a man.  Yet Christ has given us adoption, whereby we may cry, Abba, Father.  For we have been made by His atonement, sons and daughters of the King; we have been made kings and priests unto the Holy One.  And we are watchman that cry unto Him, that which is much on our hearts and minds.  We are allowed to ask for the desires of our hearts.  But the watchman is much more ready to ask for the things on God's heart.  They ask and speak to the King about His kingdom, about His plans, His will and His ways.  And when we see and hear of things that are contrary to His kingdom and to He, Himself, we cry out for God the Father to move.  We cry to the King for His kingdom to advance.  The watchman cries unto the King of glory.

3.  and the watchman saw -  The watchman's job is to watch.  To fix their eyes beholding and looking.  This is the reason of the Spirit coming and asking the watchman that comes before Him, 'watchman, what of the night?'  In other words, what do you see?  Woe to the watchman that falls asleep; he cannot behold nor see.  And woe to the watchman that refuses to see, because they are distracted or too busy with other things.  The assignment is to see and to report.  " Father, this is what I see upon our nation, upon our cities, upon the church, upon our homes."  This is not a quick glance to look and remove, but one must sit and wait and watch.  'Be still and know that I am God.'  Look upon the horizons, look upon the valleys, look upon the road, look upon it and see what the enemy is doing, what the affairs of men are, what the kingdom of the Lord is doing.

4.  And the watchman called  -  He went up to the King and entered into the throne of God; He cried out and gave honor unto Him Who sits upon the throne, that liveth for ever and ever; He looked upon the affairs of men and the nations and looked upon His God, Who is immutable and then he called upon Him.  'Call and I will answer you and show you great and might things which thou knowest not."  And how much is there to call upon Him for:  redemption of lost souls; a weak and Spirit-less church; families struggling; minds and hearts given to evil; lives shattered and hopeless; great needs and burdens that many carry each passing night; nations given over to hell and Satan's ways; evil abounding and Christians losing faith.  Call and I will answer.  Look upon the affairs of men and know that He reigns.  The watchman sees, knows and calls upon the very One that can undo the evil and make the wrong's right in a moment.  He is able.

Watchmen, are you being faithful? are you fulfilling these 4 points of responsibility.  Rise up watchmen, for your Lord and King calls you.  'For I have set Mine watchmen on the walls, and they shall not give Me rest day nor night.'  What a privilege to be a watchman for our blessed Lord.
