THE ACTIVITY OF GOD IN THE BIBLE - I & II THESSALONIANS

 The Activity of God

Going through the Bible, book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, phrase by phrase and word by word to give attention to the following:
--the Names of God;
--the word & deeds of God;
--the sayings of God;
--the attributes of God;

Too often the churches weakness and the Christians weakness is found in this one sin, 'we do not know God'.  We have not studied the Bible, nor Him to learn more of Him.  Seeking that this might be a help for myself and others in this pursuit that each of us 'may grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord.

I THESSALONIANS
Chapter 1
1:1      Paul, and Silas and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ:  Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.      God's church;  God the Father (2);  God the Lord Jesus Christ(2);  God's church in the Father and Christ;   God's grace, peace upon His church;   God's gives grace and peace form Himself to His servants;
1:2       We give thanks to God always for you all making mention of you in our prayers;      God thanked;   God prayed to;  God's church made mention of by them before Him;
1:3      Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;      God's servants work of faith, love and hope in Christ;  Christ Name - Lord Jesus Christ gives these things to His servants;  God the Father;  God's and the Father's sight of knowing what they are doing;
1:4     Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.    God elects;  God's election of saints;
1:5       For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.     God's gospel;  God's gospel came in word and power, in Holy Ghost, in much assurance;  God the Holy Spirit enables word with power and assurance;  And God said/spoke;  God's word;
1:6      And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:     Christ followers;  And God said/spoke;  God's word received in affliction and joy of Holy Ghost;  Holy Ghost gives joy through received word;
1:7      So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.    God's church examples to others;
1:8      For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.     And God said/spoke;  God's word sounded out to others;  God's servants have faith;  God's word spreads abroad;
1:9      For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God:     God turned to by these men;  God served;  God is living and true God;
1:10      And to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised form the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.     Christ from heaven;  God's Son, Jesus Christ;  God waits for His Son;  God raised Christ from the dead;  Christ delivered us from wrath to come;
Chapter 2
2:2      But even after that we had suffered before and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.     God's children shamefully suffered and entreated for His Name sake;  God's servants bold to speak of Him His gospel;  God's gospel spoken;  And God said/spoke;  God's gospel spoken with much contention;
2:3      For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:    God's gospel exhorts;  God's church exhort one another;
2:4      But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak:  not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.     God allows them to speak His gospel;  God's gospel spoken and entrusted to them;  And God said/spoke;    God to be pleased;  God tries the hearts;
2:5      God is witness;     God is witness of their words and deeds; Omniscient/Omnipresent;  God knows what they did and bears witness of truth;
2:6      Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.     Christ apostles;  Christ servants not burdensome to others;
2:8      So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.     God's gospel imparted ot them;  And God said/spoke;  God's servants preaching the gospel;
2:9      we preached unto you the gospel of God.     God's gospel;  God's gospel preached to them;  And God said/spoke;
2:10     Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:      God is witness;  God's servants to live holy, justly and unblameable;  God's children that believe on Him;
2:11      As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children.     God's church exhorted, comforted and charged;  God's truths taught to His church;
2:12       That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto His kingdom and glory.     God's children to walk worthy;  God called us;  God's kingdom and glory;
2:13       For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.     God thanked without ceasing;  God's word received;  God's word heard;  God's word truth;  And God said/spoke;  God's word effectually worketh in them that believe;
2:14       For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judea are in Christ Jesus:  for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:      God's church brethren;  God's followers in the churches;  God's churches;  Christ Jesus makes followers part of churches of God;  God's children have suffered;
2:15       Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:      Christ killed by them;  God's prophets killed;  God's people persecuted;  Please God;  God not pleased by them;
2:16      Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway:  for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.    God's gospel forbidden by Jews;  God's salvation for Gentiles forbidden;  God's servants to speak His word;  God's wrath come upon them;
2:18      but Satan hindered us.    God's servants and work hindered by Satan;
2:19      For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing?  are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?     God's joy, hope and rejoicing;  Christ Jesus Presence;  Christ coming;
2:20      For ye are our glory and joy.     God's believers and church is glory and joy;
Chapter 3
3:2      And sent Timothy, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:    God's servants are brothers in Christ;  God's ministers;  God's fellow laborers;  Christ gospel;  God's church established;  God's believers comforted concerning their faith;  Christ followers have faith in Him;
3:4      we should suffer tribulation, even as it came to pass and ye know.     God's church to face tribulations;

3:6       But now when Timothy came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:     God's children's faith and charity;  God's church remembers one another;
3:7      Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:     God's children afflicted and distressed;  God's churches faith;
3:8      For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.     God's children stand fast in Him;
3:9      For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;     God thanked;   God's children joy for one another;  God receives joy of His church for one another;
3:10      Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?     God prayed to night and day;  God prayed to exceedingly;  God's children faith to be perfected;
3:11       Now God Himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.     God the Father;  God the Son, Jesus Christ;  Christ Name - Lord Jesus Christ;  God the Father and Christ direct way;  God directs ways;
3:12      And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:     God make increase and abound in love toward one another;  God make love increase and abound toward all men;

4:4      That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;     God's children to possess themselves in sanctification and honour;
4:5      Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:     God not known;
4:6      That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter:  because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.     God is avenger of all;  God's people warned and testified to;
4:7      For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.     God calls not to unclean;  God calls to holy;  God calls;
4:8      He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God,  who hath also given unto us His Holy Spirit.     God despised in not keeping His ways;  God gives;  God's Holy Spirit given;  God the Holy Ghost;

4:10       And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia:  but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;      God's brethren in the church toward each other;  God's brethren beseeched to increase more and more;  God increases;
4:14       For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.      Christ died;  Christ rose again;  Christ children believe in Him;  Christ servants asleep in Him;  God bring Christ's children with Him;  I will's of God to bring them;
4:15      For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.      And God said/spoke;   God's word declares;   Christ coming;  Christ's church alive and remain;
4:16       For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first:       Christ Himself;  Christ shall descend from heaven;  Christ in heaven;  Christ descends with shout;   God's trump;  God's angel;  Christ children dead shall rise first;

3:7     For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us:  for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;     God's children to follow right examples;  God's children rightly behave themselves;  God children's not disorderly;
3:9      Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.    God's faithful children set for ensamples;  God's faithful children to be followed;
3:10      For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.      God's command for HIs children to not eat, if they did not work;  God's children to work;
3:11      For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.     God church had those that walked disorderly, did not work and are busybodies;  God's church to not have these things named among them;

3:17      The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle:  so I write.     And God said/spoke;    God's servants wrote epistles;
3:18        The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.  Amen.     Christ Name - Lord Jesus Christ;   Christ grace;  God's grace with them all;
