THE ACTIVITY OF GOD IN THE BIBLE - I CORINTHIANS - CHAPTERS 1 - 8; PART I

 The Activity of God

Going through the Bible, book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, phrase by phrase and word by word to give attention to the following:
--the Names of God;
--the word & deeds of God;
--the sayings of God;
--the attributes of God;

Too often the churches weakness and the Christians weakness is found in this one sin, 'we do not know God'.  We have not studied the Bible, nor Him to learn more of Him.  Seeking that this might be a help for myself and others in this pursuit that each of us 'may grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord.

I CORINTHIANS
Chapter 1
1:1     Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,   Christ Jesus apostles; I will's of God to call;  God and Christ calls them;
1:2      Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:      God's church; Christ Jesus sanctifies them; God's saints called;  Christ Jesus our Lord called upon;
1:3      Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.     God is Father;  Christ Jesus is Saviour;  God grants grace and peace;
1:4      I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;     God thanked;  God's grace given;  Christ Jesus gives grace;\
1:5      That in every thing ye are enriched by Him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;   Christ is able to enrich His people;  Christ help with all utterances of Him;  Christ imparts all knowledge, Omniscient;
1:6      Even as the tetsimony of Christ was confirmed in you:    Christ testimony confirmed in believers;  Christ in you;
1:7     so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ;   God's gift not short to any of His followers;  Christ Name - Lord Jesus Christ; Christ coming again;  Christ people waiting for His return;
1:8      Who shall also confirm you unto th eend, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.    Christ to confirm His followers unto the end;  Christ children to be blameless;  Christ Name - Lord Jesus Christ;  Christ day;
1:9      God is faithful, by Whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.      God is faithful; God called us into fellowship with HIs Son;  Christ the Son of God;  Christ Name - Jesus Christ our Lord;
1:10       Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you:  but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.      Christ Name upon His people;  Christ Name - Lord Jesus Christ; Christ servants to have no divisions, but perfectly joined together with same mind and same judgements of God;
1:11     Christ followers report on each other;  Christ followers have contentions among each other;
1:12      and I of Christ.    Christ is the only one who begets His servants;
1:13     Is Christ divided?    Christ is not divided;
1:14      I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;   God thanked;  Christ followers baptized by Paul;
1:16   Christ followers baptized of Paul;
1:17       Christ send me not ot baptize, but to preach the gospel:  not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.     Christ sent Paul not to baptize;  Christ sent Paul to preach the gospel;  God's gospel preached;  Christ cross effective to save;
1:18      For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.    Christ cross preached;  Christ cross foolishness to lost;  God's power to save through the cross of Christ;
1:19       For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.     And God said/spoke;  I will's of God to destroy wisdom of wise;  I will's of God to bring to nothing understanding of prudent;
1:20      hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?   God makes foolish wise;  God's ways, are not men's ways;
1:21      For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.      God's wisdom for world rejected;  God not known; God pleased to bring forth foolishness of preaching to save;  Christ save those that believe in Him through preaching;
1:23      But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;      Christ crucified;  Christ crucified preached;   Christ crucified preached stumblingblock to Jews and foolishness to Greeks;
1:24    But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.    God calls both Jews and Greeks;  Christ is power of God; God's power - Omnipotent; Christ is God's wisdom;
1:25      Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.    God's foolishness wiser than men;  God's weakness stronger than men;  God is not foolish, but all wise; God is not weak, but all strong, Omnipotent;
1:26   God calls;
1:27      But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world ot confoudn the things which are mighty;     God chooses foolish things;  God chooses weak things;  God confounds wise and mighty (2);
1:28       And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring ot nought things that are:    God chooses things which are not to things that are;
1:29      That no flesh should glory in His presence.     God's present;  God gloried not by flesh;
1:30      But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification; and redemption:     God brings us in through Christ Jesus;  Christ Jesus brings us to God;  God makes Christ our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption;
1:31      That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.     And God said/spoke;  God to be gloried in;  God's glory;
Chapter 2
2:1      declaring unto you the testimony of God.     God's testimony declared by Paul;
2:2      For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.     Christ Jesus only thing to be known;  Christ crucified to be known;
2:4      And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.     God's word preached;  And God said/spoke;  God's Spirit empowers Paul to preach truth and speak truth;  God's power enables him;
2:5       That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.   God have faith in;  God's power enables faith, not in men, but in Him;
2:7      But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:      God's wisdom spoken in mystery;  God ordained it before world;
2:8      they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.      Christ crucified;  Christ glory;
2:9       But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.      And God said/spoke;   God hath prepared things for those that love Him;  God loved;
2:10      But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit:  for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.     God reveals things to His children through His Spirit;  God's Holy Spirit reveals truths and secrets to men;  Holy Spirit searches all things, deep things of God'   God's deep things searched and known by Spirit;
2:11      even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.    God's things not known by man;  God's Spirit knows the things of God;
2:12      Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.    God's Spirit to be received;  God reveals that we might know the things of God freely given;  God gives freely;
2:13      Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.     God's things spoken and taught;  Holy Ghost teaches;  Holy Ghost compares spiritual things with spiritual;
2:14     But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:  for they are foolishness unto him:  neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.     God's spiritual things not received by natural man;  God's spiritual things not known to them;  God's things are spiritually discerned;
2:15      God's spiritual things are judged of no man;
2:16      For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that He may instruct him?  But we have the mind of Christ.     God's mind not known;  God instructs them that known Him;  Christ mind known;
Chapter 3
3:1       And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.     God's children not able to speak of spiritual things;  Christ followers called babes in Him;
3:3     God's children carnal and sins named among them;
3:5       Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?     God's ministers;  God gives to every man that believes;
3:6       I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.      God gives the increase;
3:7      So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.      God gives the increase;
3:9      For we are labourers together with God:  ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.     God's children labor together with Him;  God's husbandry;  God's building is His people;
3:10       According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon.  But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.    God's grace given unto His children;  God's work in building;
3:11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.     Christ Jesus is the foundation laid;
3:13    God's servants works shall be manifest;
3:14   God's servants shall receive reward;
3:15     If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.     God's servants saved by fire;
3:16      Know ye not that ye are the temple of God , and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?     God's temple is His servants;  God's Spirit dwells in His servants;
3:17      If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.      God's temple defiled;  God destroys;  God's temple is holy;  God's servants are His temple;
3:19      For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.  For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.     God's foolishness is wisdom in this world;  And God said/spoke;  God takes the wise in their own craftiness;
3:20      And again, the Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.     And God said/spoke;   God knows thoughts of wise that they are vain;  Omniscient;
3:23      And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.     Christ's servants are HIs';  God's Servant, Christ;
Chapter 4
4:1      Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.    Christ ministers;  God's mysteries;
4:2    God's stewards found faithful;
4:4    For I know nothing by myself; yet am i not hereby justified:  but he that judgeth me is the Lord.     God is Judge;  God judges him;
4:5      Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, Who both will bring ot light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts:  and then shall every man have praise of God.     God is coming;  I will's of God to bring to light every hidden thing;  I will's of God to manifest counsels of men's hearts;  God shall be praised;
4:8       and I would ot God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.    God's Name and purpose used in behalf of people;
4:9      For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed ot death:  for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.     God is thanked;  God set forth apostles unto death; God hath made them spectacles to angels and men;
4:10      For we are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.     Christ sake made fools;  Christ makes men wise;  God's servants contrast weak and strong, honrourable and depsised;
4:11 - 13  God's servants face such things;
4:15      For though ye have ten thoughsand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers:  for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.   Christ has those that instruct His servants;  Christ Jesus used Paul to beget them in faith;  God's gospel begets them in salvation;
4:17      For this cause have I sent unto you Timothy, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways, which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.     God's faithful and sons in the faith;  Christ ways taught and demonstrated by Paul and Timothy;  God's church;  God's servants teach;
4:19      But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.      I will's of God to allow him to come or not;
4:20     For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.    God's kingdom not in word;  God's kingdom in power;
Chapter 5
5:4      In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,    Christ Name (2) - Lord Jesus Christ;  Christ Name in power to those gathered together;
5:5      To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved int he day of the Lord Jesus.    Christ day to save the soul of that man;
5:7       PUrge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened.  For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:     Christ servants to purge out leaven;  Christ is our passover;  Christ sacrificed for us;
5:8   Christ servants in sincerity and truth;
5:11      if any one is called a brother     Christ church calls each other brothers in Christ;
5:13      But them that are without God judgeth.  Therefore put away form among yousevles that wicked person.    God judges those without church;  God's church to put away wicked from among them;
Chapter 6
6:1    and not before the saints?     God's saints;
6:2      Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world?  and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?      God's saints to judge the world;
6:3      Know ye not that we shall judge angels?  how much more things that pertain to this life?     God's angels;  God's saints to judge;
6:4     set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.      God's church;  God's saints to judge the church;
6:5      not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?     God's saints to judge the brethren;
6:6 - 7    God's children go to law against one another is not right in the sight of God;
6:8    God's brethren do wrong and defraud one another;
6:9      Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?  Be not deceived. . .      God's kingdom shall not be inherited by unrighteous;   God's children to not be deceived over this truth;
6:10       shall inherit the kingdom of God.     God's kingdom to not be inherited by wicked;
6:11      And such were some of you:  but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.    God's children washed, sanctified in Christ Name;  Christ Name - Lord Jesus makes sinners HIs';   God's Spirit saves and seals them unto Himself;
6:13      Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats:  but God shall destroy both it and them.   Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.     God destroy meat and belly of men;  God made men bodies for Himself;  God is Lord of body and body for the Lord;
6:14       And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by His Own power.     God raised Christ from the dead;  I will's of God to raise up men by His Own power;  God's power to raise men up, Omnipotent;
6:15      Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ?  shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot?  God forbid.      Christ members have their bodies unto Him;  Christ members of His body;  Christ members bodies not to be defiled with fornication;  God forbid;
6:16       for two, saith He, shall be one flesh.    And God said/spoke;   God declared that man and woman joined to make one flesh;
6:17      But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.    God joined by men made one with Him;  God's Spirit one together;
6:18    God bids them flee from fornica6tion and not defile themselves;
6:19      What?  know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?      Holy Ghost abides in temple of men unto the Lord;  God's children bodies are temples unto Holy Ghost;  God gives body and Holy Ghost to His Own;  God declares we are not our own;
6;20       For ye are bought with a price:  therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.     God bought us with price of Christ Jesus sacrifice and atonement;  God to be glorified in our bodies;  God to be glorified in our spirit;  God possesses all things;
Chapter 7
7:5     God's children warned of the enemy, Satan tempting them;
7:7      For I would that all men were even as I myself.  But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.     God gives proper gift to each man;
7:10       And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:    the Lord commands;  God ordains that wife not depart from husband;
7:12      But to the rest speak I, not the Lord:   If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.      God speaks not this;  God's children that believe are instructed in regards to marriage and divorce;
7:13      And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.     God's children that believe married with those that believe not;
7:14      For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband:  else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.     God knows the believing and unbelieving;  God sanctifies those He sees fit;  God's knows clean and unclean;  God's are holy;
7:15      But if the unbelieving depart let him depart.  A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases:  but God hath called us to peace.     God knows believing and unbelieving;  God  calls us to peace;
7:16   God knows those that are saved and those that are not in marriages;
7:17      But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk.  And so ordain I in all churches.    God distributes to each;  God calls every one so as to walk;  God knows those that walk rightly with HIm;   God's churches to ordain such;
7:19       but the keeping of the commandments of God.    God's commandments to be kept;
7:20     Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.    God calls and His servants are to abide in that calling;
7:21      Art thou called being a servant?     God calls;
7:22    For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman:  likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.      God calls His servants (2);  God's servants (2);
7:23      Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.    Christ has bought His servants with a price of His blood and life;   Christ's servants are not to be servants to men;
7:24       Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.     God calls His servants;   God to be abided in by His servants;
7:25       Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord:  yet I give my judgement, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.      God has not commanded in this thing;  God's mercy obtained to be faithful unto Him;
7:32       But I would have you without carefulness.  HE that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:     God's things to be cared for;  God to be pleased;
7:34       There is difference also between a wife and a virgin.  The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit:        God's things to be cared for by unmarried woman;  God's servants to be holy in body and spirit;
7:35      but for that which  is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.     God's things to be attended to without distractions by His servants;
7:39      The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.      God's servants bound by law unto death;  God ordains whom men and women should and if they should marry;
7:40      But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgement:  and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.     God's Spirit to abide in for these things for His servants in marriage and not marrying;
Chapter 8
8:3      But if any man love God, the same is known of Him.    God to be loved;  God knows those that love Him;
8:4     and that there is none other God but one.    God is God alone, there is none other;  God is only One;
8:6      But to us there is but one God, the Father, of Whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom are all things, and we by Him.     God is only God, one and only one;  God the Father;  God created all things;  God's children in Him;  Christ Name - Lord Jesus Christ;  Christ from Whom are all things;  Christ servants by Him in being one with God;
8:7      Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge:      God is not in knowledge of all;
8:8     But meat commendeth us not to God:      God declares and knows those that are commended to Him;
8:10     For if any man see thee which hast knowledge     God's children have knowledge of Him;
8:11      And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?     God's children have knowledge of Him;  God's children give horrible witness to weak and cause them to perish;  Christ died for these;
8:12      But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.    God's brethren sinned against by such actions;  God's children weak conscience wounded;  Christ sinned against by wounding these weak brethren;
