PRAYER EMAIL - JANUARY 8

 Greetings,

"Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry."  Acts 17:16

Generally, listening to the church pray is a very mundane moment.  Throughout my ministry there have been those I have called upon to pray and they said the same prayer, the same way, every time they prayed.  But when you get around a prayer meeting or a prayer warrior and they pray with this description of Paul, "his spirit was stirred in him", everything changes.  There is no mundane praying, there is no 'saying' prayers;  there is passion, fervency, desperation and urgency.  They are praying and they will not be denied.  This is the prayer that moves heaven and puts hell on retreat.  It is this praying that we need today.  

So the question to ask and consider, and have us ponder when we are looking at our secret closet prayer time, and our corporate prayer meetings -- "Is our spirits stirred within us?"   Do you see and know of the great sin that is destroying our nation? our fabric of society? crushing homes and families? and killing our family members, friends and community members in the 1000's?   These are the things that stir us in our spirit that we fly into His Presence with expectancy and seeking for a power that can be unleashed upon this destruction, death and dying.   A power which is God, and God alone.  For only God can remedy this, and there is where we will find any solace, succour or help.   

In the most troubling times, the most crucial needs we come with the stirred spirit.  We must have God!  We must prevail in prayer!  In moments of tragedy and death, many come after the moment and seek God.  And I always wonder, if that would have happened if we had sought Him as stirred before the tragedy.   Oh, that we would learn that hapless praying causes hell to rejoice.  Two things hell loves about the American church prayer life.  1.  They don't pray at all;  It is hell's greatest accomplishment to cause the church to stop being 'houses of prayer' and to stop Christians from being men and women of prayer;  2.  When prayer is offered and done, it is lifeless and short and frigid.  Hell knows they advance when they find such a people prayerless and praying - less.   But when the spirit is stirred within His people, they cannot be such; they must pray so as to prevail!

I call them 'catalyst' in the mind and heart that stirs our spirit to pray so as to prevail.  It is not needed to work one self up or fake emotions.  There is enough evil happening all around us to stir us up.  And how can any one look at eternity, especially eternal horror of hell and not be stirred in their spirit to pray.   Many know they should; many want to; but is there enough resolve, enough discipline to pray?   "Oh, that there was such a heart within them!"   Stir yourself up brethren, and pray; for eternity hangs in the balance for some soul right now.   And we are given the privilege and opportunity to pray to see God work wondrously.   If your spirit is not stirred, then go before the Lord and seek Him for help with this.   And if your prayer meetings are not stirred in spirit we need God to come and fill us!   Paul looked upon the idolatry of all the city and had to respond.  How can we look at all the evil happening and not be stirred within our spirits to come before Him?   

Oh Holy Father, stir our spirits that we not be complacent, unmoved, and unphased at what is happening right now all around us!  Stir those that are asleep, and unconcerned that their loved ones are perishing.   Stir the church to seek You like never before.  Realizing that we can't go on with out You!  WE need You to come Lord in power and Presence upon Your bride!   Stir that us that we would not gone on as days gone by.  Stir us when we see hell advancing, and Your Name blasphemed among society!  Stir us when hell gathers another soul and heaven loses another one!  Stir us when men do evil and think it good rather than evil.  Stir us for these things, for what stirs You!  IN Jesus Name, Amen

SBC prayer initiative - there is a great opportunity among several SBC leaders to advance a prayer thrust;  Now many leaders talk a talk, but never follow through or engage.  These leaders will engage and are already doing it in their respective places.  The focus is to set forth a precedence of greater prayer in every aspect of SBC life.  This won't happen with 'talkers', it will only happen with 'doers'.  

EPIDEMICS
1.  Drugs/Alcohol; 2.  children; 3.  LGBT; 4.  Natural Disasters; 5.  Plagues; 6.  Great Evil;  7.  Economy;

Update:
--bible readings, began in Genesis 1after the last week, working on Psalm 119 for re-memorization; No word or phrase studies at this time;
--Activity of God - Acts - rolling through end of Acts, up to chapter 27;  moving much faster than I thought, should only be 6 months left on this 4 year project;
--A Word - up through Jeremiah 12; finished starting all verses in this chapter, but numerous ones to complete, before I look or consider starting chapter 13;  the plan to do 2 verses a day, seems impossible at this point;   
--BBtT - focus on local prayer conference this week; and have started contacts with SBC state execs to set forth a plan an prayer initiative;
--Keyser Church and Fox's Hollow services for Sunday; Monday bible study; and Thursday Hour of Prayer each week;  in person and live stream for these opportunities;

CONTINUE IN PRAYER #2 Invite Letter for 100 Hours of Prayer for SBC

 Greetings, "Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;" Colossians 4;2 We are just under one month away from our "100 Hours of Prayer for SBC". We are set to gather as many from SBC life to have a continual spirit of prayer for the work of God to be done in us and through us. The work of God does not come about by the means of men, but by prevailing prayer. Oh, that every SBC church, over 40,000 were to be powerhouses of prayer for the kingdom of God. Truly such a spirit of prayer would enrich the church to accomplish much of the kingdoms business around the world.
