PRAYER EMAIL - OCTOBER 16

 Greetings,

"And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness."   Acts 4:31

"It was the best of times. . ."  -  they prayed, they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and the Word went forth with boldness.  "It was the worst of times. . . "  -  we have the same possibility, but we are so far from this.   They prayed; all were filled.   Today, few pray, and few are filled with the Holy Ghost.    It is the greatest priority and need of the church for this hour, that we should pray and be filled with the Holy Ghost.  For, far too long, we have labored in the strength of our right arms; our initiatives, our methods and means; we have practiced humanism.  Humanism, in my definition, is operating, thinking and functioning under the power of men/self, rather God.  It is a replacement of God.  And it is the greatest sin of the church in America, today.

So we go  back to Acts, the first church and see the power of God unleashed on those that died to humanism, died to self and waited upon Him.  We see great miracles, great testimonies, great works of God.  And today, we see little of these things.  God is still God.  But our focus, priority and functioning is based on us, rather than Him.   We thank God every time we hear and see of answered prayers, salvations, miracles of mercy and provisions.  But we know that it is mercy drops falling, rather than 'showers of blessings'.  And the worst of it all, is tat too many are content to continue on without it.  It is, and should be our greatest pursuit to prevail with God for this verse to be our testimony for such a time as this.   How often do you hear in real revival praying, 'Lord, rend the heavens and come down'.  This is what they are praying for, 'for all to be filled with the Holy Ghost'.   

It is a sequence of events that should bring us back to the basics of what Christianity is all about, and how church is supposed to be.   They prayed, they were filled and the Word went out boldly.   And this is all that the Lord requires of us.   But today, the sin of prayerlessness is much upon the church; few are filled and overflowing with the Holy Ghost; and the Word of God is little known, read or studied, and even more less spoken with boldness.   Let the conditions of our present hour, our cause, our hunger and thirst to make us rise up and pursue this verse to be our testimony.  Although I realize that no one can rise up with this desire unless the Lord gives it to Him.  Grateful to meet and pray and know those that have it.  And it is immediately recognized by those that have it.  It is much like recognizing the unction upon a man that preaches, it is undeniable.  But let us not let the darkness and evil of our hour cause us to lose heart, give up, grow weary and discouraged and not seek & pursuing for it.  It is our only hope, and it is our last hope.  

This is what honors and glorifies the Lord.  Because it is all about Him.  And He alone causes it, for He is Sovereign.   It is the good and right way before the Lord and in the Lord.   May our resolve be to return to New Testament truths and testimony.   May we forsake the carnal, humanistic, ways of the American church.  Haven't we fallen far enough?  Haven't we lost enough?   The hour is alter than most really know.  The evil is rapidly increasing and only  the hand of God can help or turn it around.    For those that agree and know these truths, continue on in the faith.  May God be gracious to us to show us His glory one more time.  For those that aren't convinced or don't agree, I sorrow most for you; you keep looking to horses and chariots to rescue, but I will look to the Lord.   

It was the best of times. . . it was the worst of times. . . and here we are.

1.  Drugs/Alcohol - estimated numbers are hinting at drug overdoses deaths to surpass last years record of 93,000 deaths to surpass possibly 100,000 deaths in US:
2.  Natural Disasters
3.  Children - more abuse, more neglect;; more children pressed with evil minds and hearts due to home life, and this wicked generation;
4.  Plagues
5.  LGBT
6.  Great Evil - more police officers shot and killed; 6 in 16 days of October; and many more wounded;  This evil is rapidly increasing to match the others of death, every day.   Murder-suicides; suicides; mass shootings, mass murders and homicides;  Death and dying is our status quo now. 
7.  Economy - collapse is coming;

UPDATES:
--Thursday Hour of Prayer has reached a year and 1/2 now;  One of the joys of my week to do this hour;
--Sunday night prayer among local pastors;  1st and 3rd Sunday at 7 PM;
--these local pastors and I went up to visit with Carter Conlon at their Tuesday night World Wide prayer Meeting;  what a blessing this night was for all of us;
--News of Ronnie Floyd resigning from SBC Executive Committee hit hard this week.   Much prayer for our future and what is unfolding upon our SBC.   I went back and found a blog that the Lord led me to write 10 years ago.   "The SBC has only 20 years left".

Prayer Email - 100 Hours of Prayer for SBC - III

Greetings, "men ought always to pray, and not to faint."  Luke 18:1  In the last month, we have had a Solemn Assembly for our local churches; followed by '100 Hours of Prayer' for the local churches & many of you, my prayer partners on this prayer email joined us.  And now we come to this last protracted time of prayer, 100 Hours of Prayer for SBC.  God sets His people to pray for His purposes and His will to be done.  And yet, prayer is hard to find among the churches today.  Many know they should pray, but refuse to make time.  Many desire to pray better, but have no teaching on how to pray.  Neither are they around seasoned prayer warriors that can impart what they have learned.  And much of the evil and wickedness of today in our nation, cities and homes, is because, we, as God's people have ceased praying.
