PRAYER EMAIL - 4/16

 Greetings,

". . . if ye can find a man. . . O Lord, are not Thine eyes upon the truth?  Thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; Thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction:  they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return."  Jeremiah 5:1 - 9

What a passage!  It is a mirror reflection of our current plight.  We are nearing the end of our nation. Time in the hour glass is draining down to the last sands.  And all the signs of the times upon us have largely gone unheeded.  Far too many are seeking for things to 'return to normal.'  But that will never happen, it is time to seek the Lord.  It is time for the church to become houses of prayer and for God's people to become men and women of prayer.

Their are several passages of Scripture where God looks for a man.  Here in verse 1, 'seek and see if ye can find a man. . .'  a man that is doing rightly before God.   What a blessing when God can say, 'I have found me a man after My Own heart.'   But what a reproach, when God says, 'I sought for a man, but I could not find one.'   It has been the greatest blessing to me to find men and women of prayer.  I thank God for every one of them; and especially for those that have invested to teach me and pray for me.  God is always looking (II Chronicles 16:9)   What does God see when He looks at you?   What does God see when He looks at our nation?

The remedial judgements upon our nation have increased to record, historic setting EPIDEMICS.  Death, destruction and desolation is our mandate now!  Just last night, there was another mass murder and murder-suicide of 9 people in Indianapolis.   This is their 3rd mass murder this year already.  One would think that the churches and pastors and leaders would descend on that state capital and cry out to God for forgiveness and mercy!   It is the 3rd mass murder of this month - April; after March produced 5, which is historic setting.  And coupled along with this, is 149 mass shootings.  People wounded but not killed.  That is well over 1 and 1/2 per day so far this year.   Mass shootings are just a little behind murder-suicides which is running a little higher in the stats.  This is the judgement of God upon our land.

And as the church goes, so goes the nation.  Why are these things happening?   Because God is looking for men and women to seek Him, love Him, obey Him and this is a hard thing to find among the church today.   We just concluded America's Prayer Meeting earlier this week.  And a pastor shared that among his denomination well over 75% their churches do not have corporate prayer meetings once a week; and far too many pastors that he speaks to, do not pray 1 hour a day.   He stated that their excuse was, 'we are too busy'.   Prayer is largely absent from the church; and that void created by the sin of prayerlessness among the church, God's people; allows for Satan and evil to fill it.   Safeguards, deliverance, victory, salvation, overcoming is the product of praying, obedient, Bible filled, Spirit filled and lovers and imitators of Christ.     We must return to our first love!

So I was asked why the quick response to 'A Call to Pray - SBC' for April 24.  And the answers is because we don't have time!   The hand has written on the wall as He did to the king of Babylon; the hand has taken the wheels off the Egyptians chariots; the death angel is upon the houses of our land.   And it is not the hand of revival and awakening; but of death and judgement.   Now He is able to do the latter and we thank Him for the mercy drops that we do hear about.  But the vast majority are perishing and steeped in sin and are captives of Satan and hell.  And there will be no deliverance or victory without a praying church and praying people.   So I respond to the question, 'Because the hour of our urgency has never been greater than what it is today!'   WE are running out of time.  We must respond quickly before Him.

We are setting this day of prayer to move SBC churches, pastors, state conventions and associations to become houses of prayer and a people of prayer.  And it is not just SBC, but the church as a whole, the bride of Christ fully across our nation.  One, because prayer has largely been less of a priority among far too many of God's people.  Secondly, because it is a desperate hour.  Plan to pray with us, promote and let's wait to hear from the Lord.
