prayer email - March 13

 Greetings,
"Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation:  and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:"   Matthew 12:25
"Now I beseech you, brethren, by the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there  be no division among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."  I Corinthians 1:10

The sin of self, is what causes the divisions among the brethren of the church.  We know the great prayer of Jesus in John 17.  Christ prayed for 'oneness' and unity as God the Father, Son and Spirit are One, so are we to be one.  Yet, we are not one in many ways!  Why?  Because we have lost our priority of God.  God is to be first, and everything else 2nd.  We have our eyes and minds and hearts on the things of this world, rather than eternity.  I don't know how you can view eternity and God's redemptive and glorious plan and place and not be willing to humble oneself before Him for the purposes of His kingdom come and His will be done.

So any time there are divisions which come about through temporal, carnal things of self, I know this is not the Lord, but our Lord's enemy, Satan, for he is a master at causing divisions and unrest.   I grew up with a marrow mind set of "Southern Baptists" only.   I did not know many other Christians from other churches.   I could not see the whole picture.  This is the sin of narrow mindedness.  But praise God, He caused me to glean and learn from other great saints outside of Southern Baptists.   And then it began to fall into place, that God does not see denominations, He sees His bride.  And these things are not to hinder the greater work for His glory and kingdom.  Satan is the one who causes the sin of 'hindering'.  (I Thess. 2:8)

Look at the Shantung revival, it is a history lesson that we still have not learned.   Our Southern Baptist missionaries,. Dr. Culpepper and Bertha Smith,  testify of this truth.  Dr. Culpepper states,  "Most of the things that took place in Shantung are as foreign as Chinese in American churches today, mainly because of resistance to the Holy Spirit."

Marie Monsen was an evangelical Lutheran, and yet the fullness of the Holy Ghost upon her was what led this fleshly, carnal Southern Baptists to repent, confess and seek His mercy.   And God, Who is gracious and merciful, and willing, brought forth a great revival.   Oh, that we would learn the lessons of history and not repeat, but glean from its message.   Seek God first and all other things leave to Him.   The great need of the divided, self-absorbed church is needed to be changed.  Cast off the old, but on the new and rest in Him.  Have we forgotten how much we need Him?  For if He comes, what matters who else comes?  But if does not come, what hope is there for the church.?      Learn and know this lesson brethren, it is an hour of desperation of our great need for Christ's will to be done and we be one in Him and with Him and for Him.   Casting aside all other things, seek Him!

Yet here we are!  Still resisting the Holy Ghost.   A call to prayer for real revival to come to the church and for spiritual awakening to come to the lost masses.  How could this be resisted?  How could such a genuine call to the church across America and to the Southern Baptists be resisted?   Because of seeking lesser, carnal things of flesh, rather than seeking eternal, heavenly things.  Hindering and resisting is the choice, rather than obedience to promote and participate.   It's a hideous sin of choosing ones denomination over Christ.     Yet, they choosing the lesser over the greater value.   And, here we are.  Which will you choose?   Keep your priorities and obedience straight!  Seek Him!
