BBtT - 24/7 PRAYER

 Greetings,

Focus right now, is on March 15 - 16 for Doug's Small's, "America's Prayer Meeting".  This is an almost 24 hour emphasis on prayer before the Lord, for our nation and the state of the church.   Doug is working to promote this into a once a month happening.  For now it will be in March and April after that we will see response and means to continue.  

But it is not a one time event, but it is a launching of a more carefully planned call to the church to pray without ceasing.  It is to promote and help initiate a continual stream of prayer.  The Apostle Paul, issued several of these descriptive prayer phrases: 

"prayer without ceasing" - I Thess. 5;
"continue in prayer" - Colossians 4;
'making mention of you in my prayers"

Christ spoke on prayer and said:

"Men ought always to pray and not to faint"  -  Luke 18
"shall God not avenge HIs saints who come to Him day and night" -  Luke 18

It is this continually crying out to God that moves and speaks to me.  And coupled with the description given in Revelations 5, we see where the saints 'prayers are offered, as incense, out of the golden censer, unto the Lord".  These are the prayers of the saints.   One of the sins of the church and individual Christians, is the 'Sin of Prayerlessness'.   Far too many go hours, days, and weeks without praying before the Lord.  Far too many churches are not houses of prayer, but neglect the blessedness of being a people of prayer before  and unto the Lord.  

Thus, the remedy to this sin?; create a flow of prayer that non-stop, without ceasing.  Literally, barrage the throne of grace and mercy with petitions, worship, confession, supplications, thanksgiving and intercessions.  How?   Create among the faithful remnant, already given to prayer, a place and time, joining forces to fill a 24 hour, 7 days a week, monthly flow of prayer before the Lord.  

An example that many of us know and allude to is Count Zinzendorf's 100 year prayer meeting.  It was said of them, that there was never a time day or night, no matter what hour, that someone was not praying and crying out to God.  Young and old, children, adults, all saturated with the spirit of supplication before the Lord.   And as they was faithful, God was faithful; and the greatest missionary launch came during these years and  out of this prayer meeting.

Thus why have we not done this again?  Why must our prayerlessness play into the hand of our Lord's enemy, Satan.  Evil and wickedness prevail and gain increase, due to our weakness in travailing in prayer before the God.  And largely, the church is powerless and Spiritless due to such prayerlessness.  We will seek to overturn this wicked way of God's people.  We will employ our greatest weapon of spiritual warfare, prevailing prayer.  

1.   Seek to employ 24/7 prayer chain.   We look at a 7 day week, and see that it is filled with 168 hours of time.  Employing one person per hour, would require 168 volunteers.  If we assign 1/2 hour slots, we will need 336 people to sign up each week.  Initially, we will want to fill all slots.  but it is hoped that there would be 2 or 3 per hour praying, in case, one of them has some unexpected circumstance happen that would prohibit them from fulfilling their prayer time.  

2.  Seek to encourage and edify those throughout the week in prayer.  Small groups, zoom calls, facetime calls, etc. all of which to promote prayers, but not to leave individuals alone, that they may become weary, and lose fire and focus to pray.  

3.  Follow- up     Perhaps on a monthly basis there will need to be follow up to see if individuals who signed up was able to maintain their designated time slot or if there were issues.  It is a safety net to make sure the times for prayer are actually being prayed.  

4.   Set dynamics and priorities and prayer targets for this 24/7 prayer.   We understand that many do not pray an hour, nor do they know how.  The teaching of how to pray and what to pray is largely missing from the American church.  And for the majority of prayer that is offered by the church, over 90% of it is a sick lists, physical needs;  spiritual concerns, issues and warfare are rarely engaged.  This 24/7 prayer time is to use the bulk of the time for spiritual issues to prevail against evil, wickedness, hell and to pray for lost souls to be saved and redeemed.   

5.   It is imperative that we are true to the time slot that we sign up.  WE do not just want people to sign up to fill a slot.  We want people to sign up to pray during that time slot.   Thus, if your cant' pray more than 10 minutes, and you sign up for an hour slot; don't sign up for an hour or half hour slot.   Be true to where you are in your prayer life and time.  Only sign up for what you can actually pray.   

 Goal:

1.  To fill every hour within a week.   24 hours in a day; 168 hours in a week;

2.  Pray and 'war a good warfare' in spiritual topics, targets, and kingdom prayers; Yes, there will be some physical things that we will pray for, but the bulk of over 80% should be spiritual.

3.   No one person, or small group can do this.   Too much activity goes on in our every day lives, thus we seek to have a 5 people for each hour.  So that if circumstances happen that causes you to miss your time slot, 4 others will be filling that void. 
Required then is 120 per day;   840 for the week.   Now we know that some of those 120 per day, will fill (or hopefully will) days during the week.   So a more reasonable or feasible goal would be 500 - 600 needed for each week.   

I am asking you to consider this.  If you are a person given to prayer, see if the Lord would desire for you to join this.   
Once, you know the Lord is moving you to do this, contact me.  Take your day, time slot and specify how long you can actually pray during that hour.
