DAY OF BROKEN BEFORE THE THRONE
Greetings,
I am setting forth thoughts, plans and purposes to address what many have shared in answer to the question, "What are we to do?" For the most part, I have been apart and listened and watched many spiritual leaders who have gathered in person, through zoom calls, and other means of communication.
I have listened, sought the Lord, and watched.
(This is a rough draft; a sketch of thoughts for being to formulate a direction.)
So here is what my mind and heart is forming to set forth for consideration:
As Doug Small addressed in his email, "A National Day of Prayer". It is an emergency time! It is an urgent time. And you can sense the desperation of these leaders to do something, for the right response. But we have had scores of 'event', 'movements,', and 'moments'. All of these to the larger part ineffective; or should I say, we have not prevailed. But I must confess, whom am I to know how effective these are, only the Lord knows; and it shall be revealed in eternity. For I know God is watching and He sees; I know God is listening and He hears; may He see and hear in me, in you, words and expression of faith pleasing unto Him. And so many leaders are wary of having or setting another 'event'.
But in the 'event' has God not met His people in His sovereign Manifest Presence? When Lanphier called for noon prayer; was it not an event? When Moody set the crusades and gatherings; was it not an event? When Edwards in New England and Erskine in Scotland set forth Concerts of Prayer, was it not an event? Let us obey Joel 1 & 2 and call for the gathering and solemnness of approach the Lord God on behalf of our nation and the church and seek Him, 'for who knows if He will repent and leave a blessing behind Him.'
Then let us follow the principles of Scripture given us for direction and instruction! We know we are instructed to 'continue in prayer'; there are moments of increased prayer corporately as well as individually when things are at their worst. There are times to issue, 'Calls' to the body of Christ, as well as a call to the heathen. We see this demonstrated in Jonah's call to Nineveh. We see it in God sending, for centuries, His prophets, 'rising early and sending them to His people and the proud; but they would not listen or obey.' God has been speaking, has been sending and has given us time. Yet we have not obeyed; yea if any response has been given, it is 'only feignedly'. The example we all know is after 9/11. A moment after alarm we responded, but we did not maintain. This must be addressed as well.
Recently I called for SBC to engage in my state, WV and I sent forth throughout all our 42 state conventions a plea to enter into committed to join in 'Concert of Prayer.' This "Concert of Prayer' call has been done numerous times from the 1700's till recent. They saw great response as the churches united for a monthly day of fasting and corporate prayer. They committed to two years of faithfulness and God honored them. WE are in a parallel moment; yet we do not have as much time. This was largely dismissed and unattended too. But I do believe components of this are needful to hold on to for our future endeavor to prevail in prayer.
Consideration:
1. Day of Broken Before the Throne - an emergency moment to address the seriousness of this hour; all we agree we are at this moment of crisis. This is required in such moments for a day of fasting, weeping and pleading. This is an universal call across the board for all to be a part.
Within these calls, the following is mandatory:
1. The stated issue of alarm and crisis to be set forth, so that all understand "What is going on"; The answer, We are in severe judgement from God, for our nation and for the church.
2. A stated, Biblical perspective of 'why this has happened'; We have failed, as the church to precipitate our casual Christianity, our lack of faithfulness, our erosion of holiness and our Christlikeness as the body of Christ. Thus, as the church goes, so goes the nation. Thus, the rise in evil and abounding is solely upon the failure of the church to be what God always intended for us to be. Our sins, the nations sins, has ushered forth God's remedial judgements. And over the last 20 years those remedial judgements have now increased to EPIDEMICS.
3. Set the time for gathering and crying out to God. Stated purposes of worship - confession - petitions/supplications/intercessions. A prevailing spirit of prayer to be found, that floods the heavens and overflows the golden censer. A spirit of fervency, emergency and urgency that may be so suited to have God speak and say, 'I see and hear you, and I will grant you the desire of your heart.' This would mirror Zinnedorf's 100 year prayer. Refusing to cease until the heavens are rent.
Day of Broken Before the Throne:
Date: February 15, 2021
Time: Full Day of prayer; fasting and proclamation of the Word; Nehemiah 9:3, they prayed for 1/4; they read and heard the Word 1/4 of the day;
Place: due to covid, time issues, and travel; One designated place to gather leaders and speakers to set forth direction and leading; Invitation to church and others to gather in churches, homes, small groups, etc.
What: A live stream event going forth to set forth a clear mandate of answering the questions: What is going on? Why is this happening? What are we to do?
Speakers:
Gather spiritual leaders who understand this and have set forth these truths. Sample List:
--Carter Conlon;
--Doug Small;
--Ronnie Floyd;
--Doug Stringer;
--Greg Frizzell;
--Anne Graham Lotz;
--Daniel Henderson;
--Bob Bakke;
--Jonathan Cahn:
--Kevin Jessip;
--Dan Biser;
--Tony Perkins:
--David Ford;
--Bill Elliff;
--Jim Cymbala;
Grant each speaker 30 - 45 minutes; to do the following: 1. Proclaim the Word (proclamation) to answer the above 3 questions; 2. Set forth prayer of confession, worship and pleadings;
Flow of the day should take on the principles of Keswick and address, for it is our same plight as the church: 1. sin in the believer; 2. consecration; 3. Spirit filled; and 4. victory/overcoming;
3 - 5 speakers to be assigned to the stated 4 sections of focus for the Word and prayer;
Monthly Plan:
Set forth to the churches after this 1 day moment of prayer and fasting, an answer to continue until, 'God hears and pours us out a blessing'. Until we see real revival. This would require a monthly day of regions, small groups, individual churches to set forth a day(s) of prayer and fasting together. Once a month or bi-weekly, or weekly gather together for corporate prayer and consideration.
Weekly:
Fasting once a week, or twice for stated purposes of prevailing before God. Weekly prayer meeting (s) to gather and continue to cry out to God. Long has the all night prayer meetings been gone, long has the church prayer meetings died out. Now it is time to begin again.
Daily:
This is where it all hinges. The secret prayer closet! Out of the secret prayer closet comes what happens in the corporate prayer meetings. Those that meet God, alone with Him; reveals Him unto the body of Christ in public. "That which we do secretly; shall be rewarded publicly." The consideration of absolute necessity is a continual cry before God. May each day, each hour, each moment be filled with abundance of God's remnant praying continuously before HIm. So much so, the incense of the golden censer is full and overflowing; 'Which is the prayer of the saints'.
Daily gatherings among the church at morning; zoom calls; evenings of private prayer and small group prayers. As the offerings and sacrifices were to be offered and given 'morning and evening'; so may the prayers of the saints be offered. As Daniel prayed 3 times a day unto the Lord; as Psalm 55 staTes, 'Evening, morning and at noon will I lift up my cry unto Thee.' And as Psalm 119 declares, 'Seven times a day do I offer praise unto Thee.'
Seek for the impact of the 24/7 prayer. That there is always a cry going forth and being lifted up by dozens, around the clock.
