SBC DAY OF PRAYER & FASTING (2) - JULY 3

Greetings, "And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow Him: but if Ball, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word."  I Kings 18:21 A Call to Prayer and Fasting Across SBC Life A call was once set before the children of Israel. The prophet Elijah, sent by the Lord, summoned them to make a decision: "How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him!" God offered His covenant people one more opportunity—one more invitation—to choose rightly. Elijah prayed, and fire fell from heaven, consuming the sacrifice and demonstrating to all who the one true God was. The people had always known this truth, but their divided hearts and lives had failed to reflect it. At that moment, seeing the fire of God fall, they fell before the Lord and cried out: “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!” What a moment! Today, God's children—His church—are still called t...

SBC JULY PRAYER & FASTING - JULY 3

Greetings, "In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple."  Isaiah 6:1 What a Divine moment! Have you had a Divine moment recently? Has your church experienced one? Last year, Steve Gaines shared that during one of their Sunday services at Bellevue Baptist in Memphis, God came into the service in a powerful way. Steve said, “God just took over. Only twice in my ministry have I experienced something like that.” Great movements of God come through prayer and fasting. God is sovereign and can do anything He wants, whenever He wants. He is not bound by our scheduled services or even by our calls for prayer and fasting. Yet, historical records reveal that whenever God was preparing to move in a Divine way, He first set His people to pray. Our world is in chaos. Our cities and streets in the U.S. are filled with anarchy and evil. The Church languishes, desperate for Divine help. As the Church goes, ...

SBC Letter for Prayer & Fasting - June 5

Greetings, "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses. . . "  Hebrews 12:1 The call for prayer & fasting across SBC is still being submitted to many parts of SBC life. The 1st Thursday of each month, you are being asked to set aside time to fast and pray for revival to come to SBC churches, the church as a whole; and to pray for spiritual awakening to come to those lost and without Christ. Join us! be a part of this and encourage others to join in your respective places of service and leadership to be a part of this call for us to seek the Lord for what only the Lord can do. Consider this phrase out Hebrews 12:1! We are entailed with this great cloud of heavenly hosts. We see this also in II Kings with the prophet Elisha. As the king of Syria had sent his army to take Elisha, for he was telling the king of Israel where the enemy was to be found. Elisha is sitting on the hill top, unfazed, calm; no fear, no anxiety. But his servant wa...
