But agony like this—none of us have known, except Christ. This agony forced a response from Him in His praying: "He prayed more earnestly." When was the last prayer meeting you attended that had agony? That had earnestness? We don’t use the word earnest much in our churches anymore. And few Christians know what this experience is. It is written of David Brainerd that when he began to pray, there were several inches of snow on the ground. His prayers were filled with agony and earnestness, and by the time he concluded, the snow around him had melted.  Greetings, "The harvest is past, the summer is ended and we are not yet saved." Jeremiah 8:20 A Call to Prayer for SBC Our time for "A Call to Prayer for SBC"  this week. This is a simple reminder to all of SBC life: "It is time to pray." Neither the church nor an individual Christian can obtain the Lord’s blessings, Spirit, or the help needed in this world or in the work of God without prayer. Crisis, trials, and afflictions cause people to pray and cry out to God for divine help and deliverance. On the other hand, times of ease often lead the church and many Christians to grow lax and negligent in their prayer lives. Thus, we must "stir up the gift that is within us" and pray before our Lord for His kingdom, His church, and all believers. We have set February 22 as a day of prayer, with a live stream featuring SBC leaders and pastors.   Greetings, I know that the executive meeting in Nashville is coming up next week. I realize your dockets are full, with many pressing matters that need to be addressed in just a few days—legal, financial, and strategic decisions all rest on your shoulders. I am writing as a gentle reminder that the SBC Executive Committee is tasked with promoting, planning, and preparing the SBC community to be engaged in prayer. Unfortunately, very little is being done in this area. Once again, I urge you to consider the following suggestions: Call for a monthly day of fasting and prayer. This initiative would cost nothing beyond promotional materials to encourage SBC members to fast and pray on the first Thursday of each month. The focus would be on seeking a real revival in the church and a spiritual awakening for the lost. Support prayer conferences and assemblies.
